FX Takes Bite Out of 'Twilight' Series

The FX network has vamped it up by securing broadcast rights to the four movies in the 'Twilight' series, according to The Hollywood Reporter . After the movies' televised screenings on pay cable channel Showtime, the films will rise on the ad-supported FX. FX will premiere 'Twilight' on their network in late 2011, followed by 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' in late 2012, says The Hollywood Reporter . The third installment in the franchise, 'Eclipse,' whose theatrical release is June 30, will make its FX debut in early 2013. The fourth and final story in the series, 'Breaking Down,' is waiting to receive the green-light to start production. In this package deal with Summit Entertainment, FX also gets the rights to air 'The Hurt Locker,' 'Push.,' and 'Knowing,' which stars Nicolas Cage . The three films are scheduled to hit FX in the middle of 2012.

As I've written before , whenever any movie not primarily involving white males and/or geek-friendly genres becomes a big hit, the moralizers come out in full force about how dangerous or unhealthy said movie is for the target demo in question. Sex and the City: The Movie presents adult women in a terribly materialistic light so it's just unhealthy. And Precious isn't just about one person in a singular situation. Oh no, Precious is about each and every person who happens to be black, poor, female, or overweight, so it's obviously perpetuating one stereotype or another. And we can't have movies starring black people ( Obsessed ) that are just as sleazy, trashy, and stupid as the kind of thing that white people take for granted, because we can't present black characters, especially black women, in such an unfashionable light. Needless to say, this is the kind of thing that the Twilight series has had to deal with. Because the lead of the books (and movies) is a teenage girl, ...

Monday night the competition was stiff when Mýa , Donny Osmond and Kelly Osbourne gave their all in an attempt to win the disco-ball trophy on "Dancing with the Stars." Each of the three finalists had to perform three dances -- and the judges' expectations were high. Each couple performed the final ballroom or Latin dance that they have not yet performed on the show, as well as the always popular freestyle dance. The third dance is the "megamix" challenge. In it, the three finalists faced-off in a group number made up of three dance styles: the Viennese Waltz, the Samba and the Jive, all choreographed by “Dancing with the Stars” alum Nick Kosovich .
